American rock band from New York City, formed in 1964. Lou Reed (vocals/guitar), John Cale (viola/keys), Sterling Morrison (guitar), Maureen Tucker (drums), with Nico on debut. Andy Warhol produced debut. Commercially unsuccessful but one of the most influential bands ever.
