American slowcore/sadcore band from San Francisco, active 1989-2001. Mark Kozelek (guitar/vocals, later Sun Kil Moon). Down Colorful Hill (1992), Rollercoaster (1993), Ocean Beach (1995). Achingly beautiful, long, melancholic songs. 'Katy Song,' 'Have You Forgotten.' 4AD releases. Kozelek continued with Sun Kil Moon.
