English electronic and synth-pop band formed in Basildon, Essex, in 1980. Dave Gahan and Martin Gore continue after founding member Andy Fletcher's death in 2022. Albums include Violator, Songs of Faith and Devotion, and Memento Mori (2023). One of the best-selling electronic acts of all time.
