English rock band from Birmingham, formed in 1968. Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass), Bill Ward (drums). Invented heavy metal. Dark, heavy riffs and occult imagery created an entirely new genre. Paranoid, Master of Reality, and Vol. 4 are foundational.
